FINISHED!

The Mural is finished! Jeremiah put the final coat of sealer on it this morning.
The mural will be officially unveiled at an opening reception on May 29, 2012 from 6:00-7:00pm.  Students and family members as well as The Williamsport Education Foundation, Administration and Community Members are all invited to celebrate the student's accomplishments.

Creating the mural

Adding the pieces.  Each piece was added to the wall individually.  The entire process took about a week to adhere all the pieces to the wall.  It was great to see the mural grow daily; everyday a little more of the mural was finished.

Painting the wall white...

We are nearly finished with all the mural pieces and it is now time to ready the surface of the wall.  First the students are going to prime the wall with 2 coats of kilz primer.  We will let this dry, then start applying each individual mural piece.

The Colorful Art Room

Things are getting really colorful around the art room as the mural progresses.  Students are finishing their second piece and we are now finding the right estrangement to hang on the wall.  Jeremiah is experimenting with possible combinations out in the hallway.  The students are getting very anxious to see their mural on the wall.  We will begin preparing the brick wall after Easter break.

Coming Along

The mural is started and coming along nicely.  Students are taking their sketches and creating each final mural piece from it.  Students are trying a variety of media, including paint, markers, oil pastels, photographs and graphic design.
